Overview
Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly), developed by Vladimir Khavinson at the Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology (St Petersburg) as the minimal active form of pineal extract. Decades of research on telomerase activation and aging models place it among the most documented Khavinson bioregulators.
Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly), developed by Vladimir Khavinson and colleagues at the Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology (St Petersburg) in the 1980s as the minimal biologically active form of a pineal peptide extract. Khavinson''s peptide bioregulation hypothesis postulates that short peptides (2–4 amino acids) can cross both cell and nuclear membranes and directly regulate transcription of specific genes in the corresponding target tissue — pineal gland in the case of Epitalon.
