Overview
Melanotan II is a cyclic 7-amino-acid α-MSH analog developed at the University of Arizona by Hadley and Hruby. Activates MC1, MC3, MC4, and MC5 receptors — pan-melanocortin agonist with pleiotropic effects on pigmentation, appetite, and sexual function.
Melanotan II (MT-II) is a cyclic lactam 7-amino-acid α-MSH (alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone) analog developed by Mac Hadley and Victor Hruby at the University of Arizona in the 1980s. Like MT-I, cyclization confers remarkable stability over native α-MSH, but MT-II retains pan-melanocortin activity, activating all four relevant receptors (MC1, MC3, MC4, MC5).
